Typically, attorneys charge flat rates with court costs, or charge a contingent fee. A contingent fee means that the client pays nothing up front. Generally a lawyer in any type of personal injury case will charge a contingent fee. Under a contingent fee arrangement we do not receive attorney fees from you unless we recover money for your injuries.

Contingent fee arrangements typically have the personal injury attorney charging between 1/3 of the recovery if the case is settled without a trial, to 40% to 50% of the money recovered if the matter requires a trial. Prior to hiring our firm, we will disclose all fees with you.

It is important that you carefully read any representation contract you are about to enter before signing up with an attorney in any type of contingent fee arrangement. Some attorneys will charge for all out-of-pocket expenses on the front end of your case, requiring you to pay the upfront costs, others will “ front ” you the expense of these costs so that you may adequately proceed with your claim where you might otherwise be unable to do so.

Often, these fee arrangements for costs in contingent fee agreements depend on the type of case you have.
